The Slight family adopted Dakota!
We adopted Dakota (formerly known as Sasha) from the San Diego Humane Society in October 2008. Over the years, we have had a number of mixed-breed rescue dogs who have enriched our lives. In April, our lab-pointer mix, Pepper, passed away at the ripe old age of 14.
After that, our 8-year-old boxer-shepherd mix, Amber, had become sullen and lonely. Since bringing Dakota, a 5-month-old lab-shepherd mix, home three weeks ago, Amber has renewed energy and is very protective of her new playmate.

Shelterbuddies thanks maedae523 for sharing her story!
This is my dog Coco, and we adopted her from CAPS (Citizens for Animal Protection Shelter) about six years ago, and we love her so much! She was found on a construction site eating the dry cement mix for food. Poor thing! She was brought to CAPS, and the moment we saw her, we knew she was the one for our family! And now that she’s been with us, she lives a very spoiled life! I have to say, shelter dogs have definitely been the best dogs we’ve ever had and I highly recommend that anybody looking for a pet goes to the shelter first! The animals there are so full of love and looking for someone to share that love with!
When you adopt one of the doggies you might need a dog house!
But maybe not this extreme!
